An arrest warrant has been issued for a man Hingham Police are seeking in the carjacking of an 85-year-old woman at Linden Ponds in Hingham Friday afternoon.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating Jerry Irvin Anitus, 20 of Brockton. He is wanted for carjacking, assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery on a person age 60 or older, assault to commit a felony, using a motor vehicle without authority and trespassing.

"He is considered armed and dangerous," the HPD said in a statement. "Anyone with information about his current location is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately."

Weymouth police arrested a second suspect Friday for an armed robbery prior to the carjacking.

The victim has been released from Mass General Hospital. Her injuries included severe swelling and bruising on her body, Hingham police said.

"The two counts of Assault and Battery on a Person Age 60 or Older are from when she was grabbed by the wrist and was grabbed by the shoulders and thrown the ground, striking her wrist and head on the pavement," HPD said.

"The charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon is from when the suspect backed the victim’s car out of the parking space, drove in her direction, and the car came within inches of hitting her."

Anitus is about 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with a frequently changing hairstyle. The attached booking photograph from the Norfolk County House of Correction may be close to his last known hair style, police said.

Detective Robert Mansfield and Officer John Marquardt are investigating this incident in conjunction with the Weymouth Police.

Weymouth Police have also obtained an arrest warrant for Anitus for the armed robbery that occurred minutes before the Hingham carjacking at Previte’s Market.
