Town Council Voices Opposition to North Weymouth Natural Gas Compressor

The town council voted Monday night to express their disapproval of the project.

The Weymouth Town Council will not support a natural gas compressor located in North Weymouth.

On Monday, the council voted to send a resolution to local state officials, federal officials, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission stating their opposition to the proposed project from Spectra Energy Algonquin Gases according to WATD.

The compressor would be next to the Fore River Bridge, leaving councilors concerned about what would happen if an emergency at the plant shut down Route 3A.
