The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting a period of prolonged oppressive heat on Wednesday (8/11) to Friday (8/13) throughout most of the Commonwealth. Daytime temperature highs will be 90-95 degrees on Wednesday and 95-99 degrees Thursday and Friday. Heat index (Apparent Temperature) values will be 95-103 degrees Wednesday and 103-110 Thursday and Friday. There is a low probability that the heat wave could continue through Saturday.
Town of Weymouth residents looking to escape the upcoming extreme heat can find comfort at the Tufts Library, 46 Broad St. Tufts will be open from 9:00am to 9:00pm on Wednesday, August 11, and Thursday, August 12, 2021 and from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Friday, August 13, 2021.In addition, Scattered showers/thunderstorms are possible in the afternoons, with the potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms late Thursday.Please click the link for safety tips during this time of extreme heat.https://www.mass.gov/info-details/extreme-heat-safety-tips (https://www.mass.gov/info-details/extreme-heat-safety-tips)
