Weymouth Man Charged With Intent to Murder
Police say Christopher J. Newman allegedly stabbed a 64-year-old male on May 9.

From Weymouth Police:
On May 9th, at approximately 3:10 PM, Officers responded to Shawmut Street on a report of a disturbance. Weymouth Police Dispatch reported a 911 call of an unknown male trying to break a door down.
The first officer on scene encountered three males in a yard on Shawmut Street. One of the males, a 64 year old male, was seriously injured and covered in a large amount of blood from having been stabbed in the chest. The other two males were actively fighting. The officer separated and eventually secured both males and then began treating the stabbing victim. Paramedics and Fire Fighters arrived and took over the treatment of the victim who was transported to South Shore Hospital.

It was determined that one of the males involved in the fight, Christopher J. Newman, (age 27 from Humphrey Street) had stabbed the 64 year old male. The other male had come to the aid of 64 year old male’s aid and was in a violent struggle with Newman when the officer arrived.
Upon investigation, it was determined that Newman entered the yard on Shawmut St uninvited and not knowing anyone who lives there. Residents reported that Newman appeared intoxicated and was not making much sense. The victim, who was doing work on the property, stated that Newman, who he has never seen before, was approaching him acting strange and began screaming for no reason. The victim and Newman began to argue and Newman was directed to leave the property but refused. The verbal argument became a physical altercation and the victim stated that Newman stabbed him with a knife. The altercation relocated to the front yard. The witness fought with Newman in an effort to defend the victim, before police arrived.

The 64 year old victim who had been stabbed in the chest was transported to South Shore Hospital and is expected to recover.
Christopher Newman was arrested and charged with armed assault with intent to murder a person over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, carrying a dangerous weapon, disturbing the peace, and assault and battery. He was held without bail over the weekend and is due to be arraigned at Quincy District Court Monday.
