Weymouth Mulling Raises For Mayor, Town Officials

The town could see a raise for the town council, mayor and school committee for the first time in 12 years.

WEYMOUTH, MA – The Weymouth Town Council is mulling a pay raise for itself, the mayor and school committee for the first time since 2006, according to the Boston Globe. Mayor Robert Hedlund's salary would increase from $110,000 to $128,000; councilor salaries would go from $7,500 to $8,725 and the council president's stipend would rise to $11,000 from $9,500.

Stipends for the school committee would go from $3,000 to $3,500 and its chair would see an increase of $4,650 from $4,000, the Globe reported.

The Town Council referred the matter to committee for further study at its meeting Jan. 7.
