Weymouth Prohibits Recreational Pot Production, Sale

The town council voted Monday to ban "all types of non-medical marijuana facilities."

WEYMOUTH, MA – The Weymouth town council voted Monday night to ban the production and sale of recreational marijuana in the city. According to the Patriot Ledger, the unanimous vote bans "all types of non-medical marijuana facilities."

The town council may come back to the issue at the request of Mayor Robert Hedlund, the council or a citizen petition, the Ledger reported. It does not include medical marijuana.

Massachusetts voted in 2016 to allow recreational marijuana sales to people 21 and older beginning July 1. Weymouth voters opposed legalizing recreational marijuana 14,755-14,624.
