Press Release
Mayor Kay hopes that the new guide will serve as a meaningful reference to every Weymouth household. Human services and support programs are designed to not only enable personal development but also facilitate participation, security, and success in one’s community. While not every individual or family may have an immediate need for such assistance, it’s important that people understand what resources are out there and how to access them when they’re needed. When individuals and families don’t receive this support, not only do they suffer, but the local economy is deprived of important human and financial resources. By increasing awareness of locally-based human services, Weymouth hopes to foster confidence among residents that their community is here to help them and support them as they build their lives and pursue their goals.
The Weymouth Social Services Guide is available on the Town’s home webpage. Paper copies are also available at Town Hall, Weymouth’s public libraries, the Teen Center, and the Whipple Senior Center. The content of the guide was assembled using an array of public information sources as well as input from Weymouth’s municipal departments. While the guide is not meant to be an exhaustive directory of social service providers, it covers multiple service areas based on those local and regional referrals most frequently used by Town Staff. All information within the guide was determined to be accurate at the time of publication and will be periodically updated on the Town’s website.
