NORTON, MA — Norton police said a woman’s murder at the hands of her estranged husband Wednesday night was a “senseless” tragedy.

Julie Meede, 34, of 2 Holmes St., was stabbed to death by Martin McDonald, 35, of Weymouth, police said. McDonald then got into his Dodge Ram pickup truck, drove on Route 495, then veered into the opposite lane of traffic and struck another vehicle head-on. The other driver, a 30-year-old Rhode Island woman, was seriously injured.
