• Massachusetts Emergency Order Classifies Kratom as a Schedule I Controlled Substance (williamstownma.gov) — Starting August 28, kratom will be illegal statewide, and Williamstown's Community Development Department and Board of Health can enforce the new ban against local retailers. Shops here are urged to pull any kratom products now and review ingredients carefully. Questions can go directly to the Williamstown Board of Health for guidance before penalties or license actions begin. 
• 2026 Massachusetts Amateur Public Links Championship Final (massgolf.org) — Williamstown's Waubeeka golf course just hosted the 2026 Massachusetts Amateur Public Links Championship, where Matthew Michaud clinched victory with a dramatic eagle on 15 and clutch pars coming home.
