WILMINGTON, MA — Work has begun, resulting in lane shifts on I-93 northbound in Wilmington, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
The work is expected to continue until Nov. 1 and will necessitate a long-term left shoulder closure and long-term lane shifts.
The lane shifts are necessary to allow crews to establish a work zone for bridge demolition and construction. The work is occurring between mile markers 30.9 and 31.2.
Overnight temporary lane closures were in place earlier this week.
The work is part of a $16.2 million project to replace the bridge carrying Route 129 (Lowell Street) over both sides of the highway.
