Billerica Man Arrested After Allegedly Dragging Officer with Car
Police had arrested the man after a search which lasted under 24 hours.

BILLERICA, MA — After a search which lasted under 24 hours, a Billerica man who allegedly dragged a police officer by his car found and arrested by law enforcement.
Eric Oblenis, 28, of Billerica was arrested Saturday after police issued a press release Friday seeking the suspect. Oblenis was wanted on charges for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon to wit a motor vehicle, and operating to endanger.
Police say that two officers were investigating suspicious activity in the parking lot of Rite Aid on Boston Road. As an officer approached a parked van, the driver believed to be Oblenis allegedly saw the officer and threw a needle on the floor of the vehicle and quickly accelerated in reverse, striking the officer.

The officer was dragged by the arm for approximately 15 feet before falling. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police announced on social media just before 4 p.m. that Oblenis had been brought into custody.
