Cambridge Officer from Wilmington Arraigned in Hit and Run Bike Collision

Ryan Callinan was off-duty when he allegedly struck a bicyclist and fled the scene.

A Wilmington man and Cambridge Police officer was arraigned Thursday in Somerville District Court in relation to a hit and run involving a bicyclist in Cambridge.

Ryan Callinan, 29 was off-duty and in his personal vehicle when he allegedly struck a bicyclist from behind and fleeing the scene the night of Feb. 21 at the intersection of Broadway and Portland Street in Cambridge. He was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

The victim, a 32-year-old female, was transported to Mass. General with non-life-threatening injuries.

Callinan was released on personal recognizance and ordered him not to commit any new offenses.

A pre-trial conference is due January 26, 2017.
