Case of Wilmington High School Teacher will Go to Trial: Report

Anthony Altieri was charged with domestic assault on Sept. 11.

WILMINGTON, MA — The domestic violence case surrounding Wilmington High School teacher Anthony Altieri will head to trial, reports Ray Lamont of the Gloucester Times.

According to the report, Gloucester District Court Judge Joseph Jennings III has scheduled the case for a bench trial on Nov. 4 in Gloucester District Court. However, Altieri's Attorney told the judge Tuesday that he believes the victim will assert her right not to testify against a domestic partner, reports Lamont.

Altieri, 39, of Essex was arrested following an alleged attack on Sept. 11. He was placed on paid administrative leave by then-superintendent Mary DeLai, later being allowed to return to work one week later.

DeLai later penned her resignation letter to the Wilmington School Committee after news broke about her drunk driving arrest in August.

Altieri's attorney also reportedly told the Gloucester Times that he believes that his client's case will be dismissed, and that alleged victim disputes information in the Essex police report on the arrest, and the charges were "overstated."
