GARDEN CLUB WHISKEY BARREL

WHAT HAPPENED THIS TIME ?

I just went by the intersection of Woburn and Wildwood Streets, and once again the whiskey barrel is on its side.  This is the third time within a year, once somebody that was a bit tipsy (allegedly) ran it over, before that it was also run over .  This time it looks like it was tipped over and all the soil and seasonal greens dumped out.  The women who care for these put in their time and energy to make them look nice as each season changes.  These women are not young and it’s a lot of work to plant  the arrangements .  They also have to be watered almost every other day during the summer.  Incase people are not aware, there is no faucet there, so the water has to be brought in jugs from home. The greens this time had to be cut from local wooded areas and evergreen trees.  So next time you go by the whiskey barrel at Wildwood and Woburn Streets, try to stay on the road and if you get the urge to tip something over go home and ask your parents if there is anything of theirs you can tip over just to be destructive.  In the mean time it will be fixed for the third time this year, for the townspeople of Wilmington.
