Incumbents Won't Run For Reelection To Wilmington School Board
School Committee members Julie Broussard and Tom Talbot said Wednesday they will not run for reelection.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Wilmington School Committee members Julie Broussard and Tom Talbot said Wednesday that they do not plan to run for reelection in the April 27 town election. The announcement during the public comment portion of means just one incumbent is running for the three seats up for reelection this year.
Incumbent Jo Newhouse, who was appointed to her seat in August, took out nomination papers earlier this month, as did Jesse Fennelly, a runner-up in last year's school committee election. Candidates have until March 8 to return nomination papers with signatures from 50 registered Wilmington voters to have their name included on the ballot.
Broussard, who is in her second term, was named chair of the committee last year. Since being elected in 2013, she has led the committee’s search for a new superintendent and was part of the School Committee handbook revision team.

Talbot was elected to the board in an uncontested race in 2016. Talbot was the lone member to back Fennelly when a joint vote of selectmen and the school committee appointed Newhouse to the school committee last year.
