Joseph McMahon Tapped As Wilmington's Next Fire Chief

McMahon has been a firefighter in Wilmington since 1982.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Joseph T. McMahon started as Wilmington's new fire chief on Monday. The appointment was announced by Wilmington Town manager Jeffrey Hull in a post on the town's Website Tuesday afternoon. Hull started with the Wilmington Fire Department in 1982.

" He is intimately familiar with the operations of the Wilmington Fire Department and I am fully confident that he will provide strong leadership in the department and serve as a resource to fellow department heads and the community at large," Hull said.

Wilmington Selectmen interviewed three candidates for the position. McMahon replaces Rick McLellan, who also joined the Wilmington fire department in 1982. McLellan, who was named chief in 2014, retired at the end of 2017.
