MBTA Releases Identity Of Man Hit By Train In Wilmington
Michael Murphy was 60 years old.
WILMINGTON, MA — The man hit and killed by a MBTA commuter rail train in Wilmington Saturday night was 60-year-old Michael Murphy, according to MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan. Sullivan declined further comment and no other details were available.
Murphy was struck and killed by an inbound Lowell line train in Wilmington around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night. The fatal crash occurred near the Butters Row overpass on the MBTA commuter rail tracks that run parallel to Main Street.
Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene. Foul play is not suspected, and the crash remains under investigation. MBTA Transit Police said no passengers were on the train when Murphy was struck.
