More Thoughts On Wilmington Selectmen's Race
In the latest round of letters to Patch, Rob Fasulo, Suzanne Sullivan and incumbent Greg Bendel pick up words of support.
WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington voters head to the polls Saturday to vote for three selectmen's seats, including a six-way race for two seats that are up for reelection and a three-way race for the unexpired vacant seat on the board. Patch regularly publishes letters to the editor on a wide range of topics, including local elections. The following letters were submitted in recent days.
Fasulo, Sullivan Reflect The Will Of The Voters
I get so frustrated when I read a "Letter to the Editor" supporting the incumbents running for the position of Town Selectman. Especially when this support comes from other leaders within our community, because I feel that these letters are implying that "life is good", "don't rock the boat" and that "change is scary.
In spite of what these letters want to convince me of, I believe: "comfort and the fear of change are the great enemies of success" - Jeanette Coron

On April 9th 2019 each candidate was asked whether a vote passed by the residents of Wilmington was a "good idea" or a "bad idea", here were some of the responses;
Rob Fasulo - "Just because I don't like change. It's a tough change for me to swallow, but…it's necessary"

Kevin Caira - "It was a good thought, but I opposed it"
Greg Bendel - "I voted against (it)"
Suzanne Sullivan - "Absolutely for it! It's about time we started taking responsibility for our trash"
You have probably figured out by the last response that these opinions were given with regards to the new ban on plastic bags in the Town of Wilmington. However, you may not know that Saturday April 27th is not only Voting Day here in Wilmington, but it is also "Spring Town Clean-Up Day".
This year on Voting Day/Town Clean-Up Day I hope you will elect change in our community and join me in voting for Rob Fasulo and Suzanne Sullivan for Town Selectman as well as getting rid of some of the trash that has accumulated since our last Town Clean-Up Day.
Thank you,

Bendel Is Committed To The Community
I am writing a letter in support of Greg Bendel for selectman. The main reason I support Greg Bendel in his bid for re-election is his commitment to the community and his love for the town of Wilmington.
Greg volunteers his time in many Wilmington Community groups He always makes himself available to the residents of Wilmington. Many times I have reached out to Greg and maybe I didn’t always get the answer I wanted he always got back to me with information and always offered help if he could.
Greg has the same concerns as many Wilmington residents if you talk with him you will see he is concerned about the North Wilmington residents and the sub fire station. He is concerned about the opioid problem in Wilmington, he is concerned about the seniors in Wilmington. What we all need to understand is that he can’t do it alone and it takes time I have 100% trust that Greg Bendel will do his best for the residents of Wilmington.
Greg Bendel has always treated me with respect and understanding we may not have always agreed however his integrity, respect and kindness are something this community needs right now.
Thank you,
Deb Smith
