Patriots to Fans: Look out for Counterfeit Tickets

The warning comes on the heels of an arrest for selling counterfeit tickets.

If you see a deal for tickets to Sunday’s game between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts that looks too good to be true, there’s a solid chance that it is.

After police arrested four people from New York in Somerville for allegedly selling counterfeit tickets for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game on Craig’s List, the New England Patriots are warning fans to watch out for the fake tickets from unauthorized ticket sites.

According to the Patriots, an individual who purchased the tickets realized the tickets were counterfeit and called the police. The four individuals had been allegedly selling the fake tickets in the Saugus, Billerica and Somerville areas before the arrest.

“We are cautioning fans in the greater Boston area to beware of secondary market purchases of Patriots tickets for this weekend’s game. The only verified sellers of Patriots tickets are the Patriots Ticket Office and Ticketmaster,” the Patriots said in a release.

The Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts will kickoff Sunday’s game at Gillette Stadium at 6:40 p.m. The stadium parking lots will be open four hours before the start of the game. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m.
