Police Log: Man Allegedly Caught Breaking Into Home

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Sunday, June 9, to Tuesday, June 11.
Sunday, June 9
12:59 a.m.: A Marion Street caller reported that someone broke into his home and was found on the deck. The man had items from the mother's bedroom and was detained in the home when police were called. Officers located a small amount of Class D drugs and some gold and silver jewelry in the vehicle when conducting inventory. Justin V. Soeum, 18, of 154 Lake Street, was arrested and charged with felony nighttime breaking and entering of a building, larceny from a building, larceny over $250, and possession of a burglarious instrument.

8:16 p.m.: On Allen Park Drive, a young resident fell on a trampoline and was complaining of back pain. The child was transported to a nearby hospital.
Monday, June 10

12:19 p.m.: Police received a call from a person at a garage stating that her vehicle is parked on Andover Street and is being broken into. The caller was not on scene. An officer reported that it is a civil matter between the caller and property owner.
1:35 p.m.: A caller alleged that her granddaughter was struck by her day care teacher. The woman came to the station with her granddaughter. An officer notified and spoke with the mother upon her arrival. The case was referred to detectives.
7:52 p.m.: Inside Wilmington Pet Shop, a flim flam transaction took place about 15-20 minutes ago. The party was described as an African American male with a mustache and grey hair.
Tuesday, June 11
4:02 p.m.: Dispatch received a report about being approached by a man in a red shirt and black pants trying to solicit magazines for a chapel in St. Louis. Police checked with the man and advised him to take a lower approach due to calls received.
