Police Log: Pit Bull Attack and Medical Aid

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Wednesday, December 12, to Thursday, December 13.

Wednesday, December 12

6:39 a.m.: Road rage incident reported on Lowell Street. There was an incident, but officers received conflicting stories from the involved parties. A report followed with statements from each.

11:52 a.m.: Stolen items were pawned at Game Stop on Main Street.

4:31 p.m.: A caller reported a white car and a maroon jeep racing down Lawrence Street towards Glen Road. Both vehicle occupants were yelling profanities out the window.

4:35 p.m.: Female party walked into the station to report her 13-year-old son missing. Prior to entering the juvenile into the system, the mother returned to the station to report that he had returned home.

4:43 p.m.: Medical aid was requested at Brothers Pizza on Main Street for a 49-year-old male victim with a possible heart attack.

10:28 p.m.: The man involved in the previous medical call reported that while his truck was parked in the lot, a bag of tools was stolen from his vehicle. The man called back to report that all items were located in Lawrence and that he will retrieve them tomorrow.

Thursday, December 13

9:05 a.m.: Police arrested Darin L. Zenga, 43, of 19 Talbot Street Apt. 616, Saugus, for operating with a revoked license, two outstanding warrants, failing to stop or yield and failing to wear a seatbelt.

2:46 p.m.: A caller on Ballardvale Street reported his vehicle was keyed sometime during the night.

3:55 p.m.: On Middlesex Ave. a two car motor vehicle accident occurred and one driver wanted her two children evaluated. A field sobriety test was performed on one of the drivers, with questionable results. The driver was cited for an open container.

4:30 p.m.: Calling from Town Beach, a resident reported that he was walking his dog and was attacked by a large white pit bull. He stated the pit bull was on a leash but broke free from its owner. The caller picked up his shiatsu in an effort to protect his dog, and the pit bull jumped on him and bit his right hand causing puncture wounds. The pit bull’s owner gained control of the dog and quickly left the area. The caller declined medical attention, but wanted the incident logged and to speak with the Animal Control officer.

6 p.m.: Following a domestic incident, Matthew Conley, 19, of 26 Clark Street, Wilmington, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and batter. A caller said Conley was threatening another party with a knife.

7:39 p.m.: A homeowner on Kenwood Ave. stated that she is concerned someone has been trespassing on her property. She found half-eaten food on her back deck railing twice over the past five days.
