RCB Teaches Savings Skills to 5th Grade Students in Wilmington

Reading, MA – Recently, Nancy Brown of Reading Cooperative Bank visited the 5th grade students at Abundant Life School to teach them how important it is to start saving early and how to make better decisions about spending their money, based on wants vs. needs.

“Teaching the students the importance of savings early key. The 5th graders at Abundant Life School were a great group, and they were so enthusiastic about learning, which made the program a success” says Nancy Brown, Wilmington Branch Manager.

Teaching Children to Save (TCTS) is a national program that organizes bank volunteers, like Brown, to help young people develop savings habits early in life. The program was founded in 1997, and since that time over 145,000 volunteers have taught over 6 million students the importance of saving.
