Wilmington Contractor Settles With AG On Illegal Asbestos Removal
Langone Development Group Inc. and owner Jonathan S. Langone will pay up to $125,000 in fines, according to the Attorney General's office.

WILMINGTON, MA -- A Wilmington contractor will pay up to $125,000 in fines as art of a settlement with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office over a claim of illegal asbestos removal in September 2017. The lawsuit accused Jonathan S. Langone and his company, Langone Development Group Inc., of dumping asbestos into a pit on a property where they been hired to tear down a single-family house in Wilmington.
"Construction and demolition work involving asbestos must be done in a safe and legal way to protect workers and the public," Massaschusetts Attorney General Maura Healey said in a statement. "We will take action against contractors who illegally dispose of asbestos and put the public at risk of harm."
Under the terms of a consent judgement enetred in Suffolk Superior Court Friday, $25,000 of the fines will be suspended for three years. Langone had already been fined $6,000 by the Wilmington Board of Health for the work at 13 Meuse Avenue.
