Wilmington Man Gets 57 Months For Armed Bank Robbery

In December, Russell Dinovo, 52, had pleaded guilty to the October, 2015 robbery of a Boston bank.

BOSTON, MA -- U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns sentenced Russell Dinovo, 52, of Wilmington, to 57 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release. Dinovo had pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery in December.

Dinovo had faced up to 25 years in prison for his role in the Oct. 9, 2015 robbery of the Hingham Institute for Savings branch in Beacon Hill in Boston. His accomplice in the robbery, Anthony Pantone, 57, of Malden, pleaded guilty in August 2016 and received a 78-month sentence in federal prison.

Police say the two men entered the branch wearing hooded sweatshirts with portions of their faces visible. Dinovo vaulted the teller counter and stuffed cash from two tellers drawers into a duffel bag. He also demanded employees open the bank vault, and he removed money from there as well.
