Wilmington Man Struck, Killed by Vehicle in Maine: Police

The man was vacationing at a lake house on Pickerel Pond in Limerick, ME, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.

WILMINGTON, MA—A Wilmington man was struck and killed during a hit-and-run in Limerick, ME, on Monday, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.

In a press release posted to the Facebook page of the York County Sheriff's Office, police announced that shortly after a Fourth of July parade, John Mullin, 47, was struck by a vehicle while walking on a sidewalk. At the time of the original release, police indicated that Mullin was in critical condition and was airlifted to a Maine hospital.

Mullin was pronounced dead in a following release.

During the subsequent investigation, William George, 41, of Limerick arrived on foot to the scene and admitted to striking Mullin and leaving the scene. Police also stated that a third party who owned the vehicle driven by George claimed that George did not have permission to use the vehicle.

According to the release, Mullin was vacationing at a lake house on Pickerel Pond in Limerick.

Police also added that the incident is still under investigation and charges are anticipated.
