Wilmington Summer Beach To Remain Closed All Summer
No "swim at your own risk" will be permitted at the Town Beach at Silver Lake.
WILMINGTON, MA — The Town Beach at Silver Lake will not be open this summer, Town Manager Jeffrey Hull told the Wilmington Board of Selectmen at their meeting Monday. The decision is due to social distancing requirements caused by the new coronavirus.
Hull also noted that the town does not have enough lifeguards, and lifeguard certifications are not being offered due to the virus.
"Swim at your own risk" will also not be permitted, Hull said.

"It's a resource that everyone treasures," Hull said, but to open it "creates a great deal of risk."
Typically the town recreation department's Summer Beach Program runs from early June to early August. Access to the beach is currently blocked, and will remain so.
