Woburn/Lowell Street Intersection Reopens In Wilmington

A contractor installing new sewer lines has finished work for the winter, meaning traffic is back to normal on the busy stretch of Lowell St

WILMINGTON, MA -- A contractor installing new sewer lines on Lowell Street has finished work for the winter, meaning traffic passing throughout the busy intersection at Lowell and Woburn Streets in Wilmington is no longer being detoured. The detour was originally scheduled for day time work hours on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week but extended through Friday of last week, as well as Monday and part of the day on Tuesday this week.

Police said the delays were caused when the contractor encountered more ledge than expected during drilling work. The work is part of a sewer extension project that started last month. The privately funded construction project is necessary to extend sewer service to the new construction at 168 Lowell Street. Questions should be directed to the Wilmington Engineering Division at (978) 658-4499.
