Author Alicia Potter and illustrator Matt Tavares will sign and talk about their new book, Jubilee: One Man's Big Bold and Very, Very Loud Celebration of Peace. This children's picture book biography tells the story of Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore, "Father of the American Band". Growing up in Ireland, Patrick loved music--the louder the better! In Boston, he became a bandleader, and during the brutal Civil War, it was music that lifted his spirits and those of his soldiers. Once peace was restored, Patrick wanted to create the biggest, loudest, boldest concert the world had ever seen to celebrate. A peace jubilee! In Boston!
