Lynch School Kindergarteners Learn to Save
Cambridge Savings Bank brings financial education to Winchester.

Cambridge Savings Bank (CSB) recently presented its CSBsmart Financial Education Program, “Teach Children to Save,” to the Lynch School in Winchester.
Teach Children to Save coincides with National Financial Literacy Month. The lesson encourages students to make a habit of saving money from an early age. This is the first time CSB has brought Teach Children to Save to the Lynch School.
Evan Diamond, Vice President and Financial Education Manager at CSB, read the book “Just Saving My Money” to all 51 kindergarten students. Each student received a piggy bank as well as a dollar in change to practice comparing the values of different coins.

“CSB’s program ties in very nicely with our math curriculum, as we have recently been exploring the different coins, their values, and who the president is on each of them,” said Mary Bergeron, a kindergarten teacher at the Lynch School.
“Teach Children to Save” is a nationwide initiative of the American Bankers Association, and CSB presents it as part of their CSBsmart program. Since 2010, Cambridge Savings Bank has educated more than 8,500 participants with live financial lessons. CSB also provides online financial education resources through the CSBsmart page on its website.
