The Beacon Grille Cardinals came back from a 2-0 deficit to outlast the Constellation Financial White Sox 4-3 on Friday night under the lights. It was an inauspicious beginning for the Redbirds, as the top of the White Sox' 1st inning featured 3 walks, 2 hit batters, 3 strikeouts, and 2 runs (Aiden Steckel and Jack Fair). The Cardinals' pitchers (Jake Cohen, Adam Ziady, and Mario DiBenedetto) settled down over the next 5 innings, surrendering only 1 run in the 5th when Patrick Grassey was hit by a pitch, and his pinch-runner, Miguel Reid-Sandoval raced around the bases to score on a Tim Albert single. The Pale Hose pitchers were tough all night long. Starter, Richie Toelke (3IP, 5K, 0R) surrendered only 1 hit, a single to Henry Sergenian. The Cards managed to score 2 runs in the 4th off of reliever, Chris Wilson, when Cohen and DiBenedetto crossed the plate. They added 2 more in the 5th - Ziady and Drew DiBenedetto scored on a Preston Burbine double, and would have added another if not for a textbook relay from Albert to Fair to Steckel to cut down Henry Sergenian at the plate. DiBenedetto surrendered only a single to Steckel in the top of the 6th to lock down the save.
