The season opener at Stoneham saw the Winchester boys dominating from the very start of the game. The second game posed a few more challenges, due mainly to an outstanding game from the Wakefield keeper and solid defense from other members of the Wakefield team in their own 6-yard box.
It wasn’t for lack of trying, however, as the Winchester boys came out very aggressive in both halves of the game and had multiple chances for a goal both from open-field play and set plays.
With less than 10 minutes left in the game, Winchester was finally able to send one in, when a beautiful corner kick from Jason Brown found the head of Colin Jenke, who flicked it into the back of the net.
Other notable performances from Winchester included the defensive play of sweeper Josh DiNardo, who helped ensure that Wakefield had no more than a handful of shots at the Winchester net.
