Have you ever dreamed of building your own house, school, or even a fire station? Do you love animals? In this hands-on week, you’ll bring your ideas to life using cardboard and imagination to create BOTH!
Throughout the week, you’ll explore the design process—from planning and problem-solving to building and improving your structure. You’ll design and construct a cardboard building inspired by a real-life place of your choice, adding recognizable details like doors, windows, roofs, and textures. You’ll experiment with depth, structure, and craftsmanship to make your building sturdy, detailed, and unique. After you paint and finish your building, you will work together with others to place it in a purpose-built Studio on the Common neighborhood, seeing how your creation fits into a shared community.
But that’s not all! You will also work on creating your own animal using all the same skills. This class is perfect if you love building, creating, and imagining the world around you—no prior experience needed, just curiosity and creativity!
