The Courage to Speak Presentation, featuring Ginger Katz
In an emotional, heartfelt presentation, nationally renowned speaker Ginger Katz shares the painful story of her son Ian’s losing battle with drugs. She talks about Ian as a boy, how he first started using drugs and why she thinks he started. She shares signs to look for and ways that people with substance use issues often try to hide their use. Ms. Katz’s goal is to reach people before they make the decisions that could lead to them getting hooked and her organization, The Courage to Speak, is dedicated to fulfilling her promise to Ian to do everything in her power to prevent what happened to him from happening to others. Ms. Katz’s work has been featured in the New York Times, on MTV and on other major television networks and she has shared her story in over 1000 presentations nationally.
The Winchester Coalition for a Safer Community invites the public to hear Ms. Katz speak on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 7 p.m. in the McCall Auditorium. Ms Katz will be speaking to the 7th and 8th graders at McCall on Friday, May 22nd. Parents of 7th and 8th graders are encouraged to come so that they can continue the dialogue at home with their children, but the Coalition also encourages parents of children of all ages to come hear Ms. Katz’s important message.
