Culinary Herbalism, Yoga and Pilates at Wright-Locke Farm This Week
Consider signing up for one of this week's farm-based workshops
The summer season is the perfect time of year to utilize Wright-Locke Farm's 1827 Barn for a variety of programs and events, including those related to low-impact fitness. The farm's popular early morning and evening yoga and pilates sessions with local instructors Jennifer Ogonowsky and Brittney Burgess are suitable for all levels of experience and focus on improving strength, flexibility, toning, and endurance. Set to the backdrop of the farm fields, these experienced instructors will guide students as they achieve a balance of power and flexibility through the dynamic combination of breath and movement. Summer session dates and times vary throughout July and August; please see the farm's website for more information or to sign up. Upcoming evening sessions are this Monday, July 10 (pilates) and Tuesday, July 11 (yoga) from 7 - 8pm each evening.
For those who are more botanically inclined, consider joining the farm next week on Wednesday, July 12 for its Kitchen Herbs Workshop with Chef Karina Hines from 7 - 8:30pm. This demonstration-based class also hosted in the historic 1827 Barn will teach participants how to make fun and useful kitchen delights featuring herbs commonly found at the summer farmers market or maybe even in your backyard or garden. From salt blends to essences, elixirs and sipping vinegars, you will learn how to spice up your kitchen cabinets and summer beverages while capturing the healthfulness of fresh herbs. Tastings of featured recipes will be enjoyed throughout the workshop and participants will make two herbal concoctions to take home (4oz dry spice/salt blend and 8oz infused herbal vinegar).
Upcoming July workshops also include:
