Davidson Park Improvement Project Public Meeting Anounced

The meeting will focus on potential improvements to Davidson Park.

The Town of Winchester will hold a Public Meeting on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 7pm in the Board of Selectmen Meeting Room, 2nd floor of Winchester Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss potential improvements to Davidson Park, associated landscaping, and the portion of the Aberjona River that runs through the Park between Washington Street and Cross Street. Over the past several decades, sediments have accumulated in this portion of the Aberjona River, adversely impacting the riverine environment and wildlife habitat. The Town has hired a consultant, Horsley Witten, to evaluate several alternatives to improve Davidson Park, this portion of the Aberjona River, and the associated landscape.

Representatives from Horsley Witten will be in attendance at the meeting to present two alternatives – one option that includes dredging of a deep water pond, similar to the original 1930’s design for the Park, and a second alternative that includes a restored river channel and an off-line pond.

The public is invited to attend and will have an opportunity to provide input. Any questions or comments may be directed to Beth Rudolph, P.E., Town Engineer at brudolph@winchester.us and Brian Szekely, Town Planner at bszekely@winchester.us.
