Author and illustrator Thomas F. Yezerski will sign and speak about his book Meadowlands. This children's picture book traces the history of northern New Jersey's ecosystem from the days of its Lenni Lenape past through industrial development, shopping mall construction and suburban development, to the stubborn return of indigenous wildlife. Meadowlands shows the human potential for destruction as well as renewal, and conveys its ecological message with passion and humor. This book is best for first and second graders, but younger children can follow the ideas, and readers of any age can appreciate the detailed drawings that decorate the borders of each page.
