The Robbins Family of East Lexington: Rising to Prominence in the New Republic

Stephen and Abigail Robbins of East Lexington prospered as mill-owners and shopkeepers in the early years of the United States. Their wealth, land holdings, and family grew with New England's rapidly developing pre-industrial manufacturing economy. Today, the legacy of the Robbins family is evident in Lexington and in many of the region's museums.
