Holiday Concert On December 10 Features A Local Composer's Work

Shepherds and angels appear with carols and lullabies in this delightful collection of American Christmas music for chorus, harp, and more.

The Master Singers of Lexington invites you to start the holiday season with a Sunday afternoon concert at 4 pm on December 10. Lexington composer Pamela Marshall’s Shepherds and Angels is a set of old American Christmas songs inspired by little known Appalachian, New England, and Southern Harmony melodies and arranged for chorus, harp, violin, and percussion. The chorus was pleased to premiere this work back in 2011. Music Director Adam Grossman has paired Marshall’s piece with another collection of carols for chorus, harp, guitar, and percussion: Conrad Susa’s Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest, which is based on a collection of traditional Spanish and Catalan childrens’ carols. The concert concludes with four familiar and beautifully arranged Christmas carols, and a festive reception follows. Follen Community Church at 755 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington is accessible with free parking. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Discounts are available to subscribers and Greater Boston Choral Consortium members and from members of the chorus.
