Issues With Ballot-Counting Machines Reported in Winchester: Report

WINCHESTER, MA — Folded absentee ballots caused jams at ballot-counting machines in Winchester, reports WBZ News Radio. According to the report, citing Town Clerk Mary Ellen Lannon, ballots for voters waiting in line are being processed now.

At approximately 10:25 p.m., Winchester Town Clerk Mary Ellen Lannon issued a statement saying that the machines came through in the end, indicating that all ballots were counted.

Lannon also added that the town did not have to hand count ballots.

"I want to thank the Poll Workers, the Voters, staff, DPW, Police, the press and all others who were on hand to support the open, transparent, democratic process today," Lannon wrote in the statement."There is nothing that I hold more dear than the validity of our electoral process. We are a country where people can observe and be aware of what happens with the administration of an Election Day."

Lannon also added that machines at the town's eight voting precincts performed as intended.
