Large Lizard Spotted in Winchester, Twitter Account Emerges
The lizard identified as the Nile Monitor is indigenous to Africa.
WINCHESTER, MA — A large lizard native to Africa has been spotted in Winchester, reports the Winchester Star.
The Star reports that the lizard had been spotted numerous times in Winchester over a two-week period, including by a McCall Middle School student. The report cited State Environmental Police, who indicated that the lizard is likely no longer alive due to a drop in temperature.
A video of the lizard has been circulating around social media.

The lizard was identified as the Nile Monitor, native to Africa and illegal to own in the Commonwealth. Since reports surfaced, a twitter account "ran" by the lizard has begun tweeting.
