LETTER: Winchester Selectman Endorses Colarusso for State Rep.
The selectman voiced his support of the Stoneham Selectwoman and candidate for State Representative

Submitted by Winchester Selectman David Errico
I received a flier advocating for Representative Mike Day that was paid for by the Massachusetts Association of Realtors PAC. The Massachusetts Association of Realtor’s public policy position is that that they “support Chapter 40B”. When I see that the PAC that paid for Rep Day’s flier is the Mass Association of Realtors I tend to think it will be highly unlikely that Rep Day will ever vote to change M.G.L. Chapter 40B.
Chapter 40B is a state law that allows developers to circumvent local zoning bylaws and build extraordinarily large dense multifamily real estate developments. The Mass Association of Realtors PAC support of Representative Day is not good for Winchester.

Winchester residents are witnessing firsthand what M.G.L Chapter 40B can do to a community with more than 300 apartments off of Forest Street and 90 apartments on Cambridge Street. Nearly 400 apartments in Winchester means more traffic and higher taxes. Winchester is under 40B siege and we need a representative who will serve our community and fight 40B legislation – not support it.
Chapter 40B is devastating to communities like Winchester and must be changed. It’s my opinion that Representative Day will not be an advocate for changing 40B. The Mass Realtors PAC support to Mr. Day amounts to another legislative vote in favor of 40B. The challenger, Caroline Colarusso, will be an advocate for change and will vigorously fight to curb 40B. I am supporting changing the unfair, budget busting, 40B legislation. That is why I am supporting Caroline Colarusso for State Representative.
