Opioids Main Course At Winchester Luncheon

Thursday event focuses on scenarios that affect businesses.

The Opioid crisis impacts all of our communities, and creates enormous challenges. This Thursday at noon the Winchester Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a joint luncheon with the Rotary Club to discuss scenarios that affect businesses along with numerous resources and best practice recommendations. The complementary lunch, courtesy of the Winchester Coalition For A Safer Community, will be held at the Parish of the Epiphany at 70 Church Street.

Eric McNamara of the Reading Coalition Against Substance Abuse will discuss the status of substance misuse and the workplace impact. Other topics on the agenda include community resources, including local community coalitions and Interface, a free referral service available to Winchester businesses that connects individuals to quality mental health supports. Also, protocols to protect the safety, health and well-being of employees and the business environment.

Do you have a policy in place that addresses substance abuse and misuse and protects the health, safety, and well being of your employees? How do you reduce risk? How do you intervene? For example: did you know that an opioid overdose has occurred in almost every public restroom in Reading? Do your employees know how to maintain their safety following an incident including universal precautions?
