Police: Horn Pond Accident Caused by 'Road Rage'

A road rage incident between two Winchester drivers said Woburn Police.

At 10:26 a.m., police officers responded to a report of a car in Horn Pond. When police arrived, they found a green Buick in the water of Horn Pond and a white Jeep pulled over to the side of the road.

According to Woburn Police, witnesses stated that Buick was “tailgating” the Jeep closely while driving on Arlington Road.

“The green Buick then attempted to pass the white Jeep,” said Woburn Police Officer William Murphy. “[A witness] observed the white Jeep swerve in the direction of the green Buick as the [car] was attempting to cutoff the white Jeep.”

The cars “side-swiped” each other, causing the Buick to roll down the embankment and land in Horn Pond, said Officer Murphy. A woman walking around the pond had to dive out of the way of the skidding vehicle, he added.

Neither driver was arrested at the scene, but both were summonsed to . Daniel Fiorenza, 27, of Winchester, the driver of the Jeep, was cited for driving to endanger and a marked lanes violation. Inaldo Oquendo, 20, also of Winchester, the driver of the Buick, was cited for driving to endanger and a marked lanes violation.

Woburn Police filed a request with the Registry of Motor Vehicles that both drivers have their licenses revoked.

According to the RMV, this report is filed when police believe a drivers’ operation of a vehicle is “seriously improper” and makes him or her “an immediate threat to public safety.”
