Police Log: Car Unfit for Road; Stolen Kindle

Chrysler Runs Red Light
Winchester police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Aug. 29 at 10:49 a.m. in the area of Cambridge St. at Wildwood St.
Upon arrival, officers found that the driver of a Chrysler 300 was traveling north on Cambridge St. when she went through the intersection on a red light. The Chrysler entered intersection and crashed into BMW sedan, which was traveling west on Wildwood St. through a green light.

Slashed Tires
Police were called to the area of 28 Clark St. at 7:43 p.m. on Aug. 29 for a report of vandalism. Police spoke with a resident who stated that someone had slashed three tires on her Ford Focus. The car, she said, was parked overnight next to her home and off of the street.

The tires had already been replaced at Hogan Tire, the woman reported, which prevented police from observing the damage in question. The reporting party stated she had no idea who could have done the damage.
Unfit for the Road
On Aug. 29 at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers observed a tan Chevy Malibu traveling west on Johnson Rd. and riding the white line while also making a grinding noise. Police stopped the vehicle at Johnson and Berkshire.
While the Malibu was pulled to the side of the road, police noticed that the vehicle was missing its front right tire and was riding on the rim. Police also observed damage to the fender and front bumper.
The operator stated that he had a flat tire after hitting a pothole and believed that he could make it home. The operator was issued a written warning for defective equipment and impeded operation. The car was towed from the scene.
Stolen Kindle
Police responded to Euclid Ave. at approximately 4 a.m. on Sept. 1 for a report of larceny. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the homeowner, who reported that someone had smashed the passenger side window of his motor vehicle.
The man reported that someone had taken his black leather briefcase, which contained a Kindle and miscellaneous papers. The reporting party contacted his insurance company and reported the theft.
