Police Log: Gun Found and School Broken Into

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, July 5, 2:56 p.m. – A Stoneham realtor was setting up for an estate sale along West Chardon Road. The residents of the home had passed away.

While going through a box marked “Christmas”, the man found a gun. The gun, a Smith and Westin .38 caliber revolver was taken into custody.

Wednesday, July 6, 7:17 a.m. – Someone stole two copper down spots from the back of the Winchester Unitarian Church.

Thursday, July 7, 8:09 a.m. – Winchester Police were called to the Mystic School for a breaking and entering. According to the officer, the perpetrator entered the school through the gymnasium, walked to the main office, opened the sliding glass window and stole a Mac, desktop computer.

Police were unable to get any fingerprints because the perpetrator was wearing gloves.

11:32 a.m. – A Boston woman lost her purse along Mystic Valley Parkway. A Cross Street resident saw three boys, aged 10 to 12 rummaging through the purse when he took it and brought it to police.

The woman said that a pair of Sony headphones and $60 were missing from her purse.
