Police Log: Marijuana Smoker Cited and Officers Break up a Fight

This is an excerpt of the Winchester Police Log from Wednesday, September through Friday, September 3.

Wednesday, September 1, 9:32 a.m. - Winchester police responded to a report of a stolen mini van taking from a residents driveway on Myrtle Street. The theft occurred at some point within the last three days of the report.

11: 55 a.m. -  Winchester Police responded to a breaking and entering and burglary of an office building on Shore Road.

1:01 p.m. -  While on patrol, Winchester Police spotted a heated argument occurring on Cross Street outside a car and responded. The officer called an EMT after one of the two parties involved complained that she had hurt her hand/wrist. When the ambulance arrived the party refused medical treatment. The driver of the car was cited for  revoked insurance, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and having no inspection sticker. The car was towed.

1:53 p.m. -  Winchester Police responded to a burglary on Reservoir Road. Homeowners mentioned missing items that included a flat screen TV.

6:01 p.m. - Winchester Police responded to a call about an unlocked vehicle being entered on Stevens Street. Nothing was reported as stolen.

7:22 p.m. - Winchester Police responded to a report of an unwanted guest on Swanton Street. The offending parties had left the premises when the police arrived and the homeowner didn't want to pursue any further legal action.

7:43 p.m. - Winchester Police responded to a stolen GPS that was taken out of an unlocked car on Mt. Vernon Road.

11:47 p.m. -  Winchester Police issued a $100 fine to a man smoking marijuana in his parked BMW in the neighborhood of Lawson and Jefferson Road. A sober driver was called to escort the man home.

Thursday, September 3, 4:46 a.m. - Winchester Police pulled over a man driving in his car along Main Street with unregistered plates and no license. The car was towed and the man walked home after being given a citation for operating without a license.      

7:41 a.m. - Winchester Police responded to a report of an injured raccoon on Albamont Road. The animal was possibly injured due to being struck by a vehicle. Animal Control trapped the raccoon. The raccoon was then killed and disposed of by police.
