Police Log: Security Guard Assaulted and Residential Fire

Friday, Sept. 9, 7:27 a.m. – A Wedgemere Avenue resident found a buck knife lying next to the sidewalk along Pond Street.
Saturday, Sept. 10, 2:18 a.m. – A Church Street resident had his laptop stolen from his apartment. The man said he received a call from one of his friends who needed to be picked up from the Woburn Mall. When he arrived, his friend wasn’t there, but when he returned to his apartment his laptop was stolen.
12:10 p.m. – While on duty at the Winchester Country Club Friday night, a Saugus man told police that he saw two groups of youths hanging out on the golf course.

When he approached them, the man said that one group fled, but the other group (five men, three women) stayed. The guard told police that two of the men, who he said looked to be in college approached him. According to the security guard, one of them punched him in the face, while the other one punched him in the ribs.
The man was uninjured, and the group then left the golf course.

3:46 p.m. – A Stone Avenue told police that someone successfully opened two credit card accounts in his name and charged $1,000 to a T. J. Maxx card.
Sunday, Sept. 11, 11:05 a.m. – There was a fire at a home on Water Street on Sunday morning. According to the homeowner, she left a box that she put on top of the stove. She then went into the shower and when she came out the box had caught on fire.
No one was injured and the Winchester Fire Department put out the fire.
4:51 p.m. – A Medford woman parked her vehicle at the Fells parking lot. She went for a walk in the woods and when she returned someone broke her passenger side window and stole her pocketbook.
5:29 p.m. – Another vehicle parked at the Fells parking lot was also broken into.
