PITTSBURGH—A Winchester-born player and his team are just one win away from hockey's greatest prize.
Pittsburgh Penguins left-winger Conor Sheary, 23, and his teammates are just one win away from a Stanley Cup Championship, as they lead the San Jose Sharks 3-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals. Sheary was born in Winchester, but grew up in Melrose, and his family still resides in the City.

Sheary has notched four goals and five assists for the Penguins in the playoffs, including the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 2 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Sheary played his collegiate hockey at University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and attended Cushing Academy in Ashburnham.
Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals is Thursday, and the Penguins can end the series with a victory.
