Winchester Farmers Market Welcomes the Beatles

The Winchester Farmers Market had it's second stay of the season Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m on the Common.

With clear skies and dozens of Winchester residents swarming the on Saturday, the Winchester Farmers Market was in full swing.

Almost 20 vendors from all over Massachusetts gathered to sell their fruit, organic produce, grass-fed beefs and porks, crafts, syrups, spices and more.

Children of all ages enjoyed the bubble games courtesy of the Inventor Mentor, Terry Murray, and music of The Beatles Ensemble from the Winchester Community Music School who dubbed the event, WinStock, in memory of Woodstock. Solarize MASS had a table to tell people about the benefits of solar energy.

Other informative tables on-hand were the Winchester Foundation and the Winchester Artists' Network.

“This year we are very established,” said Market Manager, Fred Yen. “It rained last week, our first week, but the vendors were still happy with the outcome.”

Yen mentioned that this is the first year Massachusetts has allowed wineries to engage in the farmer's markets and wants to bring the sale of spirits to Winchester.

“We are hoping to add some wine sellers to the market, we just need to get approval from the Board of Selectmen,” he said.

The Winchester Farmers Market sets up every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. on the Winchester Common from now until October 29.
