Winchester Hospital Announces New CEO

Rick Weiner will replace Dale Lodge when he retires September 30.

Rick Weiner, MD will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Winchester Hospital, effective October 1, 2017, according to a release from Lahey Health Wednesday.

Weiner will also serve as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the hospital. Dr. Weiner will replace Dale Lodge who will retire on September 30, 2017 after serving as CEO of the hospital since 2015.

“Dale’s knowledge, leadership and guidance proved to be an incredibly effective resource during his time as CEO of Winchester Hospital,” said Paul Andrews, Chair of the Winchester Hospital Board of Directors. “Through his leadership, Winchester Hospital is well-positioned to continue its legacy of providing high-quality care and a superior patient experience. We wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement.”

Dr. Weiner, who joined the Winchester Hospital medical staff in 1987, currently serves as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Winchester Hospital. He has held multiple leadership positions throughout his tenure including service chief, department chair, medical staff president, and member of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Weiner received his medical degree from the University of California at Irvine and completed his general surgery residency at Tufts Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in vascular surgery at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center.

“For more than 30 years, Rick has been an invaluable member of the Winchester Hospital community,” said Howard Grant, JD, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lahey Health. “I am confident that under his leadership, Winchester Hospital will continue to be a vital part of the community and provide the high quality care our patients and their families expect and deserve.”

In addition, Kathy Schuler, RN will assume the dual role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for the hospital. She currently serves as CNO and Vice President of Patient Care Services, a role she has held for 11 years. Prior to joining Winchester Hospital in 2003, Ms. Schuler was the Vice President for Patient Care Services at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport and at Boston Regional Medical Center in Stoneham. Ms. Schuler received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Saint Anslem College and a master’s degree in nursing from the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Ms. Schuler also completed the Johnson & Johnson/Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives.
